PRESS RELEASE Regional Workshop in Florina

A Regional Workshop was held on Thursday 22 June 2023 in Florina, within the framework of cross-border Benefit Project, Greece-North Macedonia Interreg IPA CBC, regarding the energy upgrade of public buildings.

In the workshop participated the lead partner-Ministry of the Interior (Macedonia-Thrace Sector), the Municipality of Prespa, representatives from University of Western Maecodnia, the Regional Unit of Florina, the Center of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving (KOPE) and the Institute of Zero Energy Buildings (INZEB).

We learnt about tools for mapping municipal buildings, about financial tools and the new trends at the European level as far as energy saving is concerned. Finally, we saw good practices from the Municipality of Prespa and the Regional Unit of Florina.
Basic info concerning the project.
The BENEFIT project aims to address the growing demand to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings and convert them into buildings with reduced or near-zero energy consumption. The main common cross-border challenges to be addressed by the BENEFIT project are: (a) addressing the inadequacy of public administrations in this area, (b) developing reliable, efficient and effective energy action plans for public buildings, (c) enhancing experience in the application of advanced energy modeling methodologies, (d) facilitating the collection of building energy data, (e) enriching knowledge by applying special methodological tools to classify buildings into typologies and (f) developing a specialized decision support system for planning energy upgrades.
The action is part of the project “Improving Energy Efficiency: Demonstration in Public Buildings” acronym BENEFIT, co-financed by the European Union and National resources of Greece and the Republic of North Macedonia 2014-2020, within the framework of the Interreg IPA-CBC “Greece-FYROM 2014-2020” Program.
