Day III of the Energy Efficiency Week

The third day of the Energy Efficiency Week in the Municipality of Bitola was called the day of ideas. During this day, representatives of public institutions, non-governmental organizations and the business community shared ideas on the topic of Energy Efficiency and the environment.

The day of ideas was held in the Cultural Information Center – Kino Manaki, Shirok Sokak, Bitola on Wednesday 01.09.2021 from 11:00 to 14:30, according to the planned agenda in the invitation for the event, without changes. The number of registered participants was 21.

The moderator was Dr. Suzana Trajkovska-Kochankovska from the GAUS Institute – Bitola, who announced and presented the concept of the event.

As an introduction to the event, two introductory presentations were held. Prof. Dr. Beti Andjelevska from the Technical Faculty – Bitola presented on the topic of Energy Efficiency and the environment, especially air pollution from traffic. In her presentation prof. Angelevska gave a detailed picture of the current situation and the improvements that can be achieved by improving traffic solutions and improving energy efficiency in traffic.

The next presentation was by Ljubo Atanasovski, director of the PE for urban planning, design and engineering – Bitola, and Vesna Nedelkovska, MSc, 3D Vision Engineering – Bitola, and referred to the conducted mapping of buildings owned by the Municipality of Bitola. First of all, Mr. Atanasovski emphasized the importance of the conducted mapping, which was done for the first time since the functioning of the Municipality of Bitola in its current scope. He especially emphasized the benefits that the Municipality of Bitola will have from this mapping, especially when planning the renovation of buildings in terms of improving their energy efficiency. Then Vesna Nedelkovska, MSc gave a detailed description of the implemented mapping methodology. She explained the parameters by which the facilities owned by the Municipality of Bitola were classified, as well as the obtained results and the ranking of the facilities according to several criteria. Mrs. Nedelkovska’s presentation ended with an explanation of the mapping of the buildings owned by the Municipality of Bitola from the aspect of their impact on the environment.

After the short break, we continued with an interactive session – sharing ideas for improving the situation with air pollution in Bitola through the implementation of energy efficiency measures in various areas – transport, industry, buildings, etc. All participants first received sheets of paper on which they wrote down their ideas and then presented them to the audience. More than 10 participants took part in the debate and exchange of ideas, including the President of the Council of the Municipality of Bitola Valentin Gruevski, the Vice President of the Macedonian Scientific Society – Bitola, prof. Dr. Sasho Kocankovski and other eminent experts and civil activists. All shared ideas are noted and sublimated in support of this report.

And the Day of Ideas ended around 14:30. Then all participants continued with a working lunch in Restaurant Korzo, Bitola where in an informal atmosphere continued the exchange of ideas to improve the situation with air pollution in Bitola.

The event is organized in accordance with the KOVID-19 protocol for organization of working meetings, trainings, courses and seminars. Vaccination or KOVID-19 certification was required to participate, as well as wearing a protective mask during the sessions.
